Home

Home is where the heart is. That's what they say. And it's the family you choose that counts.

I'm traveling right now, so I'm away from home. As my husband and I lay curled up in a hotel bed last night watching TV, I realized that as long as I am with him, I am home. I love my kids and my friends and my extended family, but my husband is home.

Because home is love and companionship and acceptance and understanding. And he is all of those things for me, in ways that no one else has ever been.

I realize how blessed I am to have this with my husband, because I know there are lots of people out there who can't say that about their mate. It's taken me over 27 years of marriage to learn to trust him implicitly, and looking back over those years, I am so glad we pushed and struggled through those difficult times.

Home is where my husband is.

  3. Yes, that is home and I'm still trying to learn that when life doesn't make building a home easy. Loved these words. Blessings on your travels.

  5. Oh, how beautiful! It's the people we can love and trust the most that make us feel at home, isn't it?
