The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY . . . March 12, 2013

Outside my window . . . the sun is SHINING! A few wispy clouds float across the sky. It just looks like spring : )

I am thinking . . . of the amount of cooking I've been doing over the past few months. I really do enjoy cooking for other people.

I am thankful . . . for sunshine today. We had a dreary day yesterday. The sun makes everything better.

In the kitchen . . . last night was Chicken in the Jug, mashed potatoes, steamed asparagus, butter muffins, and chocolate bundt cake. Tonight it's Enchilasagna and a romaine salad.

I am wearing . . . my flannel robe and slippers, with a lap throw over my legs while I type.

I am creating . . . that scarf for my friend's son and a baby blanket for another friend.

I am going . . . to have a tea with a friend I haven't seen since before Christmas.

I am wondering . . . how best to help my family as we lose my husband's father. It is so sad watching a loved one decline.

I am reading . . . Days of Grace: A Memoir by Arthur Ashe. I've always wanted to read this one, so when it popped up on my to read list, I was happy the library had it available for my Kindle.

I am looking forward to . . . the coming spring weather. We're still a little chilly this morning, but I love seeing trees beginning to bloom. Everything is greening up nicely. And there is a constant chorus of bird song.

I am hearing . . . a train whistle in the distance and birds saying good morning to their friends.

Around the house . . . still in need of some vacuuming and dusting, but not bad considering the house is full of kids and we had company last night.

I am pondering . . . this article I read this morning while I was still in bed

One of my favorite things . . . tea, candles, and flowers -- the triumvirate of peace (ok, I cheated a little bit there)

A few plans for the rest of the week . . . enjoying having my son home for a week. Taking a walk at the lake with my daughter. Date night on Friday with my husband. Cooking for more friends and family.

Here is a picture for thought I am sharing . . .
