Saturday dh, dd and I participated in the Sexual Assault Center's 10th annual Walk in Their Shoes Celebration Walk. For obvious reasons, this event is near and dear to my heart.
This year's walk was particularly inspiring to me, as I saw many families walking together in support of survivors. What a blessing to have such familial support! One family in particular has made matching shirts emblazoned with the word brave on the front. On the pack of each shirt was either the word survivor or supporter. I got a moment to speak with the girls' mother, grandmother and grandfather before the walk. Later as the walk began, the girls' mother came up and took my hand offering words of encouragement to me! Wow!
B.A.C.A. of Tennessee -- This was a really cool concept to me. I am familiar with the idea that a lot of biker groups do service projects, but I was unfamiliar with this. Check out their website. I got to talk with a few of them and they were just terrific. They led off the Celebration Walk on their bikes!
Here are few more pictures from the day! If you have a similar program in your area, I encourage you to get involved. You won't be sorry!
