The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY . . . July 10, 2012

Outside my window . . . it is cloudy with sprinkles and 75*. Thank heavens for the rain. We have been dry for so long!

I am thinking . . . that keeping up with 4 adult schedules is rather grueling at times.

I am thankful . . . for my son and the recognition and celebration of his birthday yesterday.

In the kitchen . . . still lots of grilling and salads. I picked up some pineapple and bacon chicken sausages yesterday that we are going to have tonight.

I am wearing . . . a big white t-shirt and a Mexican pareo.

I am creating . . . still afghans, but so difficult to work on in the 100+ heat. I think I might do a small, cotton project just to get more "into" it.

I am going . . . to run a few errands and do a little housework.

I am wondering . . . how to find writing time for the remainder of the summer. It's been very difficult to find "alone" time with my kids and the neighborhood kids in and out of the house all day (and night).

I am reading . . . The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey (The Mysterious Benedict Society #2) by Trenton Lee Stewart

I am looking forward to . . . The James Taylor concert on Thursday night!

I am hearing . . . my son setting up his new portable hammock.

Around the house . . . things are continuing to improve. Dh worked on the carport last weekend and made lots of headway.

I am pondering . . . a schedule -- again. Have you noticed that this is a recurring theme here?

One of my favorite things . . . cake! It's also one of the most dangerous things. It's like crack for me. We currently have iced cookies and birthday cake in the house. Ice cream, too, but I don't like this flavor. Time to call in the neighborhood boys!

A few plans for the rest of the week . . . JT concert and a birthday party on Friday for a friend who's turning the big 5-0!

Here is a picture for thought I am sharing . . .
cookies and ice cream and cake, oh my!

  1. My house used to be the house where kids came and now I only have one at home and no one really comes over. I love spending time with my son but miss the noisy bunch too.

  2. Grilling is the best thing to do in the summertime. It's been incredibly hot! We got lots of rain on Sunday thankfully, and we should be getting more this week.

Have a blessed rest of your week.
