1 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

This is my variation on apple cranberry oat crumble from rustic fruit desserts. I had some red delicious apples in need of being baked, but no cranberries, so I substituted raisins and cut the recipe in half. I also simplified the topping basically because I'm a lazy cook! (No photo because the family devoured it)
happy eating!
Just used your recipe as a mix in with homemade brown sugar and vanilla ice cream...wonderful over the warm crisp
ReplyDeleteBase:
1c brown sugar,
1.5 c heavy cream
1.5 c half and half or whole milk
Pinch of salt
8 whisked egg yolks with 1/8 c granulated sitar and about 1.5-2 tbsp vanilla (whisk until incorporated)
Directions: heat the cream, half and half, brown sugar and salt in saucepan over medium stirring occasional until just before bubbling
Add 1/2 cup of hot mixture into the whisked egg yolk, vanilla, granulated sugar mixture, stirring constantly
Reincorporate egg mixture back into saucepan with the base and heat over medium, stirring until it thickens enough to cost the back of a spoon
Pour base into container (I use a Pyrex with a plastic lid
Quiclkly bring temp of base down in Pyrex by putting it in a shallow bowl f ice water for 15 min, chill overnight
Take about half of the apple crumble or a little more from above recipe and freeze 2-4 hrs, pull out of freezer and chop, keep frozen
Churn base after chilling overnight according to manufacturers instructions and mix in frozen crumble, store in airtight container, freeze overnight..enjoy
